Opera, trước hết là một client World Wide Web, tức là chương trình trích xuất thông tin từ WWW dưới dạng tài liệu với sự trợ giúp của HyperText Markup Language (ngôn ngữ đánh dấu hypertext HTML).
Yêu cầu tài nguyên hệ thống thấp. Opera hoạt động cả trên các máy 386 với chỉ 6 MB RAM hoạt động. Bạn có thể chạy mà không tiêu tốn nhiều bộ nhớ của các cửa sổ trong một cửa sổ làm việc, khi lựa chọn chế độ bảng hay xếp chồng.

• There are some funky parsing problems on Youtube.
• "Open With" other browsers doesn't work.
• Save As for a web page only lets you save as "HTML file" on Windows.
• The progress bar does not show if it's set to "Pop-up at the bottom".
• On Mac scrolling to the bottom of a page with the scrollbars does not work.
