Former V-League champion Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) revived its title hopes after coming from behind to capture a 3-2 victory over arch-foe Song Lam Nghe An in Sunday's match in the tenth round of play.

Two brilliant headers from young talent Tang Tuan combined with another score by Brazilian Agostinho Oliveira proved just enough to lead HAGL club to its second successive victory.

HAGL had allowed a goal in the 39th minute and a mistake let in an own goal at the 59th-minute mark, but the team calmly bounced back with three late goals in the 61st, 82nd and 85th minutes.

The impressive recovery secured the third place for HAGL with 17 points, leaving the team just two ticks behind Hai Phong and The Cong clubs each with 19 points.

With the defeat, visiting team Song Lam Nghe An lost the chance to bag its fifth successive league win.

Other notable results from this round include the first loss at home for Saigon Port.

Key striker Trindade was in top form scoring the opening goal, marking his eleventh goal this season, but it did not help Saigon Port avoid defeat against the visiting Binh Dinh.

Poor defensive tactics cost the team four goals, with Ngoc Quang striking for a futile goal in the 71st minute to close the match 2-4.

However, this round was mostly satisfactory for the home teams with victories by Khanh Hoa, Hai Phong and The Cong.

The dramatic win against Hoa Phat Hanoi helped Hai Phong maintain its top spot in the standings.

Today Dong Tam Long An will host Nam Dinh while Binh Duong will play away against Hanoi ACB on March 25.
